Dan Beerens


Dan's_latest_and_best_photo.jpgDan Beerens worked most recently for 14 years for Holland Christian Schools as a building principal and then as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. (Holland Christian Schools is a preschool-12th grade system of six parentally controlled Christian schools, serving about 2,000 students in Holland, Michigan.) Dan began working full time for Christian Schools International in August 2007 and currently serves as Director of Instructional Improvement. His job involves speaking, writing the Nurturing Faith blog, editing Christian School Teacher magazine, conducting staff development workshops, and working with schools on CSI’s new Measuring the Mission school improvement process.

Prior to Holland Christian, Dan served as teacher and principal in urban and suburban public and Christian schools in Wisconsin and Illinois. He holds a B.S. degree in special education from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from National – Louis University in Evanston, Illinois.

He has made presentations on teacher evaluation and professional growth, curriculum design, school improvement, technology integration, faith integrated learning, and student faith development at regional, national and international conferences. He is the author of “Evaluating Teachers for Professional Growth: Creating a Culture of Motivation and Learning” published by Corwin Press in January 2000. Dan served as the 2007 President of the Midwest Christian Educators Association and currently serves as a board member of the Kuyers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning at Calvin College.

Dan is married to his wife, Sheryl who works for Holland Christian Schools as the director of gifted and talented services, and they have two daughters. His passion is to strengthen Christian schools wherever that path may lead.
